Our First Club Night will be held on the 13th February 2018, starting at 7:30pm
Our Set Subject being presented is ‘A Shallow / Narrow Depth Of Field’.
Entries must have a narrow band of sharpness, blurring everything else into anonymity. Done properly this can produce some spectacular results. For those not sure – you need to use an aperture that is wide open, this means an aperture f stop of 1.4, 2, 2.8 or 4. Simple memory trick – The smaller the f stop number the Narrower the depth of field.
Once you reach 5.6 or higher your depth of field will also increase beyond a narrow band of sharpness. Sadly this is all relative to your lense and sensor size so you will need to do some home work on your camera equipment to get the best results.
Digital entries must be received by January 20th. Prints can be dropped off by the January 31st to the addresses in the aperture.
March Club Night Set Subject is – Activity. Entries must be handed in by the 13th February Club night.
Another name for this topic could be ‘People at work or play’. the topic is limited to people of any age, but not animals. People who are awake, not asleep. They could be doing any activity from energetic rugby to quietly doing a jigsaw. There could be a number of people in your photograph, or just one.
Entries in the Open Category must be submitted on the same dates as the Set Subjects.
